The Missions of Mercy program of the NC Dental Society holds several free dental clinic events throughout the year. In these clinics cleanings, x-rays, fillings, extractions and some denture repair (when available). Here are a few dates that recently posted:

If you attend one of these events, provide some heart-felt sentiment to all of the volunteers. This is a tough way to provide dental services and is very demanding on providers. If they feel appreciated, they will want to do it again.

i am on aidpage trying to find free dental work for my brother. He is a young handsome man but due to his history of illness with crohn's disease and all of the acidic vomitting involved he has very few teeth and the ones he has are broken and hurt all of the time. He cant eat anything with any real texture so he is limited. He has the worse toothaches which last from days to sometimes weeks and prevent him from eating anything at those times. Also his sense of security and self esteem are so low because he doesnt like to speak to people or smile at people because of the appearance of his mouth. My brother is only twenty seven years old and he has had a colostomy bag on for over four years and it doesnt bother him half as much as his teeth and appearance of his mouth. I just really hope there is some organization out there that can help put some life back into him by giving him back his beautiful smile.

I am 26 I am a single mother I have been in alot of pain due to my teeth I need alot of work done and everytime I go to the dentist they dont even want to touch me I have tried alost everything to find help my teeth just keep getting worse and more painful. I am missing some of my front teeth so finding a job hasnt been that easy I am trained to work in the admin/office field and no company wants to hire soeone to greet customers and such with missing teeth.  Does anyone know how I can find help?

Needed: free or payment option immediate dental care

I'm an unemployed female out of work for the last 18 mos. due to the economic hardship to my industry. I have several filling which have come out and I'm in extreme pain. I don't have any finanical aid outside of unemployment benefits and barely able to get by. Would LOVE to have help in being able to smile confidently again with healthy teeth. I live in the Los Angeles area. I could also make small payments regularly. Thank you.

I am in las vegas and I need dental work so badly done but I have NO money to pay for the work, I am a jack of all trades and am willing to work for the work.Is their anyone out there that can help me?

I'm divorced, self-employed single mom, one child (Elementary School), currently living in FL. Accepted job offer for east coast, moved cross country only to hear that employer is bankrupt shortly after.

After taking my child temporarily out of school (abusive teacher), and unknowingly missing a hearing regarding the underlying truancy issue, I was charged with a 2nd degree misdemeanor and my child is now in foster care. BTW, I didn't even have/had a parking ticket. My background is squeaky clean so far.

Battling the State of FL to regain back custody for my only child, I am now (almost 3 months into the process) at a point where I lost my housing, spent all my savings, can't find a job (I'm not a Citizen) and struggle to keep everything together.

And the crux of it all is: With $4,000 I could immediately take care of all legal issues (that's the lowest priced attorney that I found that is capable of handling my case). And if I could find a job that allows me enough time for all the appointments I have to take care of (court, child visitations, case management agency, evaluations, attorney meetings, etc.) I would be able to dig myself out from this hole. And with another $1800 I could manage to obtain new housing so that my traumatized child can be reunited with me.

If anybody here has any helpful ideas that I didn't try yet, please feel free to share. I desperately need to get my child back, nothing else matters more. And in order to get it done I need:

  *  Room or Small Apartment (for at least 3 months), either rent free or in exchange for my work

  *  $4,000 to pay the attorney (the current PD is creating one problem after another)

  *  ANY job offer (as long as I will be able to arrange my work hours around the mandatory appointments I have to take care of I'm willing to work ANYwhere) 

  *  Dental Work with deferred payment (or a payment plan that I can manage)

Let me know if you have any tips that I can implement. I would appreciate it very much. Thank you! 

I am a mother of three wonderful boys and i would not give them up for nothing. But the pain i go through every day in my mouth is getting unbarable. I have some dental insurance but they dont givew good coverage at all and since i am allergic to Formocreasol the meds to get a root cannal or major dental work done i have no option but to get all of my teeth pulled and dentures i am only 30 years old and i dont smile i am embarrased by my teeth every tooth in my mouth is broken and most have the nerves exposed i cant eat any of my favorite foods wth out really paying later. I guess they got that bad because i put my childrens needs first my almost 9 yr old has had sezures until age 5, adhd and just diagnosed with terrets syndrome, (no big deal i love him the same) and my 5 yr old has MD and wears braces for his legs and we travel to rileys and shrinners he also has asthma that he inherited from me and my 1 yr old well the only thing cursing him is asthma i dont look at my children as unhealthy or handicapped i look at them as my kids that i love and they do all of the sports and activities that others do and i want to keep it that way so i put off my need for a pain free mouth and nice smile again heck just a smile with teeth would be nice. I dont know where to turn my husband works and i am unemployed and my unemployment ran out and then to top it off i had my homeless sister who is pregnaut and her 2 yr old living with me and supporting them too. I know that god loves me but i tell you he really tests me all i want is to be able to smile and have my kids think that i have a wonderfull smile and not be ashamed to introduce me because of my lack of teeth i dont know if anyone can help me or what ever it was just nice to be able to get this off my chest seeing as i dont have 8,000 dollars to get the work done i need i guess i will just push on with the pain and live for my kids that is what a real mom does is live for her kids right? thanks for listening and god bless to all that read this.

IN PAIN AND IN NEED OF FREE DENTAL WORK IN SAN MARCOS, TEXAS

I am 51 years old and in need of dental work.  I have been out of work for over a year due to an injury and only get workers comp and the end of January my husband was laid off and is currently getting unemploymet.  Betweenthe two of us we barley cover our bills and hope to have enough for groceries and gas.  I have two teeth that have broken off at the gum and a filling that has fallen out.  One of the broken teeth is starting to cause me pain and the whole left side of my face is hurting now.  If there is any way to get free dental care I am in need.  When times get better and I get the chance I will do what I can to help someone else.  If there is anyone willing to help please, I would love to hear from you.

          I am writing this letter on the behalf of a friend of over 20 yers that I love dearly. We are very close but we come from two different worlds. I am 39yrs old and single he is 38yrs old and married with eight children. Were both are church musicians and have been inseperable these 20+ years. To be honest he has always been an unpolished very rugged street sort of dude. I am the total opposite. I play the keys and he has been my drummer through thick and thin and through music we developed a very strong bond over the years. I was uncomfortable in his world and he was just as uncomfortable in mine but our friendship and love for each other erased the lines.    I have always been there for him no matter what and no matter how his life fell apart he would always remain totally dependable, responsible and true to our music obligations. No joke, I never knew what he going to look like. He still showed up when he had been shot, stabbed, broken bones, run over by cars, you name it. Every single weekend for years and years he would have new cuts and bruses.    I would have to fight for him when it came  to dealing with professional business people, but I never had to do it to hard because when he would play no one cared. He always played those drums like he was beeting for his life. Here is the best part of the story, and I know it sounds crazey, but my friend is one of the nicest, most gentle souls you could ever meet. Everybody loved this dude. He is very purehearted and humble. So whats the problem? That damn drinking. I slowly watched that damn bottle nearly take everything from him including me.

           He was not a mean drunk at all, and everbody knew it. Everyone in what seems like the whole community would look out for him. His first wife of thirteen years really tried hard to stay wih him but she had finally had enough. And she still did not hate him she was just tired and frustrated with him and  all who loved him shared her feelings. It just seemed like he would never never grow up.   I did not like his new wife because she stabbed him and nearly killed him. We all knew he drank, But everyone wanted to kill her because we all knew he was totally  harmless.     After spending a month in intensive care and weeks in the hospital, when he got out, he went straight back to her and that was when I had enough. He was killing me, and I no longer wished to be bothered with someone who refused to care about their own self. I cut all communication with him for nearly a year.    He would call my phone a gazillion times but I would not answer, and when I did I was ice cold. It affected both of us in heartbreak but I no longer cared. Then he did something that broke me down.     It deeply hurt him that I wanted nothing to do with him and his wife so he gave me the ultimate peace offering, He named their new baby after me. My first name, his middle name. How can you stay mad at someone that would do someting that serious?         Long story short we ended up mending our friendship and I watched a guy that I honestly thought would never grow up mature. My heart could barely take it seeing him fully sober, working regularly, paying bills, No cuts and bruses, not hanging in the streets, etc. I NEVER thought I would see this day. Honestly he still struggles from time to time but nothing remotely like his past.    His conversation is remorseful and intelligent. He is very sincerely trying to have more and do better and I couldn't more proud.

          I am writing this letter today because he never made much money and I have always done pretty well. I wore the finest, he wore the worst. He was on the bus, I rode around in Jaguar's.   But I was never never ashamed to take him anywhere or be with him. He would be uncomfortable, I was not. I am not rich and I dont have a stack of money in the bank, I have always simply worked hard to maintain my lifestyle. But if I had the money I would get my true friends mouth fixed and spare no expense. I have been fortunate enough to have some dental work done, and that little bit cost me thousands of dollars.    I don't have thousands of dollars for my friends needs today and it really bothers me all the time. His teeth are in very bad shape, and he is in constant pain. I wrote this long letter out of love because my friend needs serious dental help now. I promise you if I had it I would gladly pay for it all, but I just dont, and it kills me to see him suffering all the time. This is my brother, this is my family, this is my friend, somebody please help him!

I'm a 37 yr old woman in S Florida. Last year on May 21st my doctor told me I had breast cancer. I had a lumpectomy in May and started Chemo.. which is horrific! I finished my chemo in November and was about to start radiation. My radiation oncologist wanted me to have an MRI before she started and guess what.. more cancer :( The chemo was totally useless because the type I have is very agressive.

So on Jan 15th of 08 I had a bilateral mastectomy. I'm currently undergoing reconstruction. It takes a while to stretch your skin back out.

On top of all of that.. one day at the hospital they were stabbing me with needles. 11 that day and it hurt so badly I clenched my jaw so tight and cracked a tooth. (just what I needed!) but when you are undergoing cancer treatment you cannot have dental work done.. so add that pain to my chemo sickness and life was quite grand!

but now I'm finished with my treatments (except the breast reconstruction) and I need dental work done. I have insurance but it is craptacular. I just need some help. Maybe someone who can let me pay over time or donated services would be great. I'm not asking for a free ride, just someone who can let me pay over time.

I went to see a dentist on my insurance plan and he said after my insurance it would cost around $11,000 to fix my teeth. I ended up with 6 cavities and need 4 crowns etc etc etc!!! JEEEEZ!

I just want to get on with my life. It is really hard when your hair is about an inch long (at least I'm not bald anymore), you have no breasts and your teeth look like crap.

Of course all that but I am still glad to be alive!!! And I am very thankful to be here! I just wish I could feel pretty again.

 I have now enrolled in college to take courses to become a Dental Assistant,I still have to figure out how to Restore My Smile before I will be able to be hired.My appearance isn't as presentable/professional as a Dental Assistant should have!After everything that I've been thru,I have truly found a passion for the dental field.Who better to comfort a nervous patient then someone who has been in the same situation.To help give back someone their Smile would be an awesome feeling/experience.I can't wait to hand the mirror to them to reveal their Restored Smile!

I am a 25 year old female. I have severe dental problems. I had the occasional cavities all my life but when I became pregnant and then nursed my child a couple of years ago my teeth took a turn for the worse. I have not had dental insurance up until a few months ago and I have not been able to pay my out of pocket percentage. My back molars have cavities so large that it is painful to eat. I have lost a tooth on the top side. In high school I had veneers put on my top 6 front teeth by my childhood dentist but they have degraded overtime. I work full time and so does my husband but we still have a hard time making ends meet. We have had a rough year (husband injured at work, car wrecks caused by uninsured motorist, and other financial setbacks). I desperately want to get my teeth fixed but don't know how. I plan to study for a real estate license and make a career for myself but I feel I need a beautiful smile to do this. Right now I would just be happy to be able to eat without pain. I can offer babysitting, yardwork, housework,clerical etc. for trade in dental work.
